Some people avoid black cats. Others won't walk under ladders. At Jack's Meat Shack, we fire up the BBQ and tempt fate.

Our Friday the 13th – Superstition Special is a one-off live-fire cooking experience packed with bold flavours, legendary BBQ techniques and a menu inspired by some of the world's best-known superstitions - every dish has been created to celebrate the unluckiest day of the year—Meat Shack style.

Throughout the day you'll cook over gas, charcoal, wood and flame, learning the techniques behind each dish while discovering how to build flavour using smoke, fire and cast iron. We'll cover everything from smoking and reverse searing to direct grilling, creating homemade sauces, managing temperatures and getting the very best from your BBQ.

As always, this is a relaxed, hands-on class where you'll cook alongside us, ask as many questions as you like and enjoy every dish fresh from the fire. Whether you're completely new to live-fire cooking or looking to sharpen your BBQ skills, you'll leave with plenty of new techniques and recipes you'll want to cook again and again.

• Different style of grills, getting the most out of what you own on the day
• Meat preparation
• Using the rotisserie grill
• Two zone cooking
• Cooking to temperature and not to time
• Using flavourings and glazing with sauces
• Using charcoal, electric, wood pellet and gas grills
• Using smoking woods to adapt flavour

The school is based off road and can be tricky to find.  Using a sat nav follow the instructions to Spout Lane and follow the quiet road until you see and army base pill box on your right hand side and there is a right hand turn very shortly after this.  Follow the lane all the way to the top and you will find us waiting for you at Slough Hall.

Parking is limited, we will help you park on the day but wherever possible please do car share.
